Dr. Amar Patnaik
Dr. Amar Patnaik is the Founder-cum-Designated Partner at A & N Legal Solutions LLP. He divides his time between the New Delhi and Bhubaneswar offices of the firm.
Dr. Patnaik has played an integral part in steering the
ever-growing and comprehensive practice of the firm.
He heads the dispute resolution, insolvency, funds,
employment, and litigation practice verticals at A & N
Legal Solutions LLP. He has been instrumental in the
evolution of the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code and
competition laws in India and has been a pioneer in
the realm of data protection and technology laws. He also specializes in environment and
electricity laws.
He advises clients and government officials on the ramifications of law(s) and their
implementation ecosystem in India and lends strategic support to firms on an array of
India-focused transactions. Having started his career in litigation, Dr. Patnaik has had a rich
experience advising various clients in their disputes which included high-profile joint venture
disputes, tax disputes, and disputes with regulators. He also serves as an off-counsel to a premier
law firm in India. His clients include multinationals, financial institutions, government enterprises,
MSMEs, and HNIs.

Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha from Odisha representing the Biju Janata Dal, he is also the
party’s national spokesperson and head of the party’s IT wing. Before becoming an MP, Dr.
Patnaik had a long and illustrious career in the Civil Services and is a former CAG official. He was
instrumental in detecting frauds in Bihar (the Fodder scam) and Assam (the Letter of Credit scam)
in the 1990s. He was also associated with the United Nations and the World Bank for global
external audit assignments. He was also the Team Leader of India’s External Audit Mission to
many countries.
Dr. Patnaik holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from St. Stephens College at Delhi University, an
MBA in Finance and Systems from Xavier’s Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, and a
Master’s program in public management from Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Singapore
and the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He was also a British Chevening
Gurukul Scholar in 2013 to pursue studies at the London School of Economics. He has also been
an alumnus of the Wharton School of Management, University of Pennsylvania.
